Who, besides me, had the drippy Jerri Curl...French Roll...and deep Finger Waves? If you were truly fresh to def, you weren't one of those that had all three at the same time! The Kangol hat, "Dookie" braids and chains, Adidas sneakers and track suits...man, those were the days of true Hip Hop! The battles between The Real Roxanne and Roxanne Shonte...Kurtis Blow...The Fat Boys (Human Beat Box), Break Dancing...Man! Back then, it was all about music that made you feel good and having a good time at the block and house parties. LL Cool J was making us feel it in his videos with the massive radio slung over his shoulder in the fresh videos...remember racing home after school to see that, along with all of the other latest cool videos that made you feel good and aspire to be a better you? Sure, you wanted to be like them, but knew that you couldn't. Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam was the bizness! The 69 Boys were brand new, along with the 95 South Boys. Everybody was down with OPP thanks to Naughty by Nature and 911 was a joke in your town...Flavor Flav!!! YoYo, MC Lyte, Queen Latifa...Luke Skywalker was the freak-a-leak! The Fat Boys' Human-Beat Box, Beastie-Boys' "Brass Monkey", Break Dancing and the like.
